Finally, I am getting around to posting my wedding photos! We have been in a whirlwind of craziness since tying the knot last September. I think we have gone through more in the past 4 months than we ever did in the two years that we’ve been together. I am so thankful for Jake and his incredible strength.
We had a BEAUTIFUL wedding day! The sky was clear, it was a warm 75 degrees during the day and a crisp Autumn night once the sun set. A week leading up to the wedding, my mom and I were very anxious watching the weather reports. For days, forecasters were worried that Hurricane Maria would travel up the east coast and land in Virginia, on September 29th. A.K.A, The DAY of our wedding. But as we got closer to the day, those anxious thoughts melted away with a very sunny forecast!
We got married at the BEAUTIFUL Wollam Gardens in my hometown of Jeffersonton, Virginia. It could not have been a more perfect venue. We had around 150 guests and it was just perfect. The Pavillion – where we had our Reception, was handcrafted by a local Artist, out of fallen Cedar and Poplar trees on their property. It was exactly what we envisioned for our day.
I did my own hair and makeup for my special day, and I absolutely do NOT regret it.
OK, hold on, I do wish I would have had someone recurl my hair for me. My makeup went on flawlessly and I had no issues there (Y’ALL, I GOT MY EYELINER WINGS PERFECT ON THE. FIRST. TRY. *balloons and confetti fall, a skydiver jumps from a plane holding an american flag. world hunger is solved*), but looking back at pictures, half way through the night my hair just gave up. Honestly, now that I think about it I don’t even think I used hairspray. I am really not a hair girl, so I have no idea why I thought that it would be a good idea to do my hair myself.
Everybody told me that I would regret doing my own makeup. But I just KNEW that if I wasn’t the one to do it, I would hate the outcome. I was just way too picky with how I wanted to look. I actually went and did a trial run with a local makeup artist and it was horrendous. After that it was like no one could talk me out of it. However, if you are not confident that you would be able to do your own wedding makeup, I hiiiiighly suggest that you find someone else (IE. A family friend that knows how you like your makeup done, if you too are picky about your makeup.) to do it for you. It was tough to stay focused with everything going on around me. I was also nervous so it was hard to keep my hands steady. Overall though I loved how it turned out!
My lovely girls getting ready! They all did SO MUCH that day and the days leading up to the wedding. I am in love with each and every one of them. Seriously obsessed!
My dress is from BHLDN! It is the Naomi dress. As soon as I put her on I instantly knew that she was the one. My bridesmaids knew too!
Our wedding was catered by the wonderful people over at SoBo Mobile! They are a local Mexican food truck that serves up some DELICIOUS tacos! Every ingredient they use is from their own farm located in Fauquier County, Virginia. Jake and I felt like this fit our personalities SO well and we knew that we had to have them cater our wedding.
I had a dear friend make our cake. It was a Cinnamon Swirl cake with a Buttercream frosting. Every bite was as amazing as the cake looked!
Our first dance was to James Bay’s ‘Running’. We both are huge James Bay fans!
Sparkler send off!! The next morning we had an early flight to Cancun, Mexico to catch!
It was such an incredible evening and we couldn’t have asked for more!
Keep your eyes out for a Honeymoon post!
TTYL,
-Becca
